The PS5 is a beast of a console and has beast of games to go with it. The Last of Us Remakes and Horizon Forbidden West are nothing to cry about. This is definitely one of the best consoles I have played. After having this console for over a year, these are my thoughts about the console now.

Speed

The speed of this console is still nothing compared to the PS4. On the old gen I would not dream of letting multiple games download throughout the day, but now I can. Most of the time the majority of games are downloaded in the morning, with other games installing! This is still an upgrade.

Controller

These controllers will probably never break. I've dropped them, accidently sat on them, and they've fallen on surfaces and no obvious sign of wear and tear exist. This is such an improvement from the PS4 controllers I had. The built in microphone has also came in handy when I get the chance to film as I can mute and unmute way more easily now. This is a good as my dog likes to get "involved" in my videos a lot and sometimes doesn't stop talking!

Console sounds healthy

Even after a few months the console doesn't sound like Darth Vader. This is definitely an improvement as my PS4 started to sound like Vader after half hour of solid play and now I can do one or two hours without thinking about the PS5. By my standards, I am certainly still impressed.

Memory

Getting an external hard drive has been a life saver! I thought that the amount of games I could install was big, but now I'm laughing. Most of the games I've installed are PS4 games but still, games galore. The number of games is well over 20 and there is still room for 20 more. Personally, I would recommended this if you are a big gamer nerd with a backlog of games still.

Backwards compatible library

As someone who has a big backlog being able to play both PS4 and PS5. This means new and old games can be enjoyed easier than on past generations. With the PS Premium library, having access to PS2, PS1, and PSP titles are also a nice bonus. For the old games, the running time is also improved which adds to the immersion of playing.

As it stands, I am loving the PS5 after owning it for just over a year. Everything is great with it and I would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about getting a new gen console.
