Every year thousands of people try to set and try to achieve new year’s resolutions. These thousands of resolutions don’t have to be boring and they can be quite fun! So this Jan 1st make plans for the most epic resolutions, as these are four ideas for gaming new years resolutions.

Platinum/ 100% game achievements

Achieving all of the achievements in a game is an achievement in itself. Setting a resolution to get as close to lots of platinum trophies or all achievements in as many games as possible is a good challenge. By platinuming games, you would also be able to see aspects of games you wouldn't have had before.

Examples could be platinum a number of games, platinum a series, or combination of both.

Bust your backlog

If you are anything like me, I buy games with good intentions of playing them but then never get around to it. This year is the year to get back through those games and reduce your backlog! If this seems daunting there are websites like How Long To Beat that would give you ideas on how long games are so you can get a good mix of long and short games.

Examples could be beat a number of games, series, or combination of both.

Revisit one game from your childhood each month

With more and more people growing up with video games, more and more people are having nostalgia for their childhood games. Visiting nostalgic games once a month reconnects you back to what made you fall in love with gaming and may help contribute to other resolutions on this list. With modern streaming services offering remastered old games, this has never been easier!

Examples could be replaying old games in a long-lasting series, visiting an old system each month, and focusing on one of the big three gaming companies.

Grow your collection

This may be a hinderance or a blessing depending on if you already have a backlog or just want to revisit your childhood games. Growing your collection can also allow you to buy old games you used to play whilst also checking out games you never got to play. Nowadays it is easier than ever to grow a collection as you can now download a collection digitally if you don’t have the physical space. Checking out PlayStation+, Xbox Game pass, and Nintendo Switch Online for digital collections will also make this easier.

Hopefully these ideas have given you ideas for your new year’s resolution. Have fun this year and leave comments if you have had fun with these!
